Birdy sat in the passenger seat of her dad's car with excitement and apprehension mixing in her gut. Today was her first day of 9th grade. "So, Eliza, are you ready for high school?" her dad asked gently. "I guess so," she replied. "It will be a big change, but you'll have your friends with you, right?" he said cheerfully, like he almost always was in the morning. Birdy smiled at the thought of her friends, and imagined them as high-schoolers. Echo would be confident and self-assured, despite her size and hair style, and Snicker would be quiet and shy, wasting away her classes by drawing in her notebooks. Pogo would be probably talking as much as she could to anyone she knew in the halls. Birdy came out of her imagining at the sight of the front of the high school, large and full of students. Her dad pulled up to the sidewalk. "Bye, Dad," Birdy said, and kissed her dad on the cheek. "Bye, Eliza! Have a great first day! I'll pick you up at 3:00!" he called back as she climbed out of the car. Birdy scanned the front of the school for her friends, and spotted Echo standing by a pillar. Birdy started jogging toward Echo, calling her name. "Birdy!" Echo called back. Her friend began sprinting toward her, her arms outstretched. Birdy was tackled by a rib-cracking hug and matching squeals. ((I wish I could come up with enough stuff for a beginning post, but I want you guys to say your points of view about the beginning of the first day))

((This is gonna be fun. I can't wait until the 3rd week or so when I bring in my new character. I still don't know if he'll replace a newsie. I think he's just going to stir up conflict.)) Snicker stood at the front door of the tall building, tapping her foot and glancing at her watch every few minutes. Unlike the rest of the year, Snicker woke up extra early on the first day of school. She spotted Echo and Birdy from a distance and sprinted for them, full Snicker speed. "WAAAH!" She screamed smacking heads with Echo. Snicker picked herself up and rubbed the dirt off her designer dress. "I've been here for," Snciker paused to do the math, "45 minutes! Where have you been? I thought you two always came early!" Her tiny voice squeaked. "It's the first day, no one wakes up on the first day!" Echo exclaimed. "Everyone except Snicker..." Birdy grumbled. Snicker crinkled her nose and did her classic baby pout. She sighed and grabbed the two by their wrists. "Come on! I saw Jimmy Peters, hes gotten taller, tanner, and and I swear to GOD he's even gotten abs!" Snicker squealed pulling the girls forward painfully by their wrists.

Echo yelled an "I love you!" and waved to her older sister who had followed slowly next to her as Echo road her bike to school. Helen did the same then pounded on the dash of the gremlin to get it started again.
Echo hopped over the curb with the usual first day of school "bounce" in her step. She looked around then met eyes with squeakers. She squealed then took a running jump into her friend awaiting arms. Moments after she heard a squeal much like hers and was greeeted with her second hug of the day.
"Hey Birds!" Echo yelped excitedly. She was about to continue but was attacked by another girl, squealing even more than she had herself.
"ECHO!!" Snicker practically screamed while still clinging to Echo. Echo began laughing and set Snicker down so she could continue to get mobbed by others.
------------------
"No way! He was so scrawny!" Echo exclaimed when hearing the news about Jimmy Peters. They all began to imagine what he would look like this year when Echo saw yet another familiar face. She squealed then dropped all of her stuff and sprinted into the arms of Switchblade. Echo got herself wrapped around his torso and watched as he cracked a smile and began to laugh at the greeting.
"Hey. Love the greeting, but we saw each other two days ago." He stated matter of factly.
"Well sooo!! IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!" She yelled. The group cheered along with her and went on to the start of a new beginning.

All the girls' faces were full of awe when they entered the high school. It was huge! Compared to their middle school, at least. Birdy was the first to pull her schedule out of her bag. She peered at the locker number to remind herself of its location. "I'm on the second floor, guys," she commented. Echo, Snicker, and Squeakers double-checked their schedules, too. "I'm on the first floor," Squeakers said. "I'm on second!" Echo added. "I'm on third," Snicker whined. She could already feel her legs getting sore after climbing three sets of stairs. "It'll be okay, Snicker," Birdy said reassuringly. The sharp sound of the six-minute bell rang through the school. "Bye!" They all shouted to each other in unison as they headed their seperate ways. Switchblade simply raised his hand in farewell.

((I don't feel like posting the whole first day so here is the end of it!)) Echo stumbled out of her 6th hour class, her energy drained to nothing. She snatched onto Snicker's arm as she saw her pass in the hall and followed her back to her locker. "You have pictures up in here already?" Echo asked with a hint of surprise in her voice. Snicker nodded as she adjusted the detailed picture she drew of herself and her brother at a young age. "This is new." Echo mumbled taking the picture from her locker. "Hey!" Snicker cried trying to snatch back the picture, but Echo smacked her wrist and Snicker drew it back in pain. "Doesn't Race NOT like it when you advertise your relation with each other?" Sniocker nodded and held out her hand for her sketch back. Echo placed it into her palm as she fiercely stuck it back onto the metal door and pulled her backpack down from it's hook. "It's really good, your art is improving." Echo complimented her, eyeing at the rest of the drawings on Snicker's locker door. "Thanks, but Race is a far better artist than I'll ever be." ((When Max Casella was younger, he wanted to be an artist until he did some play somewhere or something in high school. I forget exactly, but I just figure Race could probably draw well, too.)) "You could catch up." Echo teased punching her arm playfully. "So... You seen Birdy?" Snicker asked as the two made their way to Echo's locker in the floor down. Just then, a young blonde girl was hollering loudly on the other side of the hall. "Yes," Echo said in terror, "yes I have."

"I wonder what would happen if we just ignored her?" Echo whispered in Snicker's ear.
"You would win a smack-fest." Snicker replied matter of factly. Echo considered this, then remembered lack of energy and just decided to wave.
((I wanted to post more but I have dance tonight...))

Birdy spotted the pair of girls and ran straight for them, knocking anyone and everyone out of her way. She stopped in front of them panting and trying to form words. "What is it girl?!" Snicker exclaimed trying to read her lips, " The barns on fire?! Little Tim is trapped in the well! OH NON!" She shrieked, joking. Birdy got her breath back. "Blink is in my last hour class and he sits literally right next to me!" Bidry squealed. Echo made a sarcastic "woo" while Snicker glanced down at her cell phone. "I think Andrew is here with the limo out front." Snicker mumbled to herself, "See you on the SECOND day of school, kiddos!" Snicker said waving and walking off. "Bye," Echo called after her, "I better go too Birds, see ya." Echo walked off leaving Birdy standing alone at Snicker's locker. "Does anyone care about my love life whatsoever?" She whispered to herself.

Blink was strolling along the halls of the high school, feeling good about the day. At least one of his buddies were in each of his classes, and there were cute girls in every class. ((yes, I'm going to make him more flirty in the modern, because, well, it's realistic. But NOT a player.)) "Hey, Blink, my man!" a familiar voice said, followed by insane laughter. "'Sup, Mush?" Blink replied, and the two friends jumped into a complicated handshake, ending with whoops. "So, your classes enjoyable?" Mush asked with a nudge and a wink. Blink laughed. "Oh, yeah," he answered, in a bit of a far off voice, paired with an awkward smile. Mush narrowed his eyes at Blink, the gears turning furiously in his head. Then he grinned mischeviously. "Ooooo, Blink! You've got a crush!" he squealed in a high-pitched voice. "Shut up!" Blink said with a smile, and he shoved Mush across the hall. Mush rebounded, his eyes wide with anticipation. "Dude, who is she?" Blink was thinking of a girl in his sixth hour who sat by him. She had cascading blond curls and large green eyes that seemed to look right through him. "I don't know." Blink said with defeat.

-- Angela climbed into the limo that had now drawn a curious crowed. She blushed as she tossed her backpack onto the seat in front of her. She didn't like to be noticed. "How was school, miss?" Andrew's voice boomed through the speakers in the back of the car. Angela pushed a little finger down on the comms button. "Good, sir. Thank you." "Mm, yes." ... Silence, as usual. "So... How do you like public school for a change?" He asked with little curiosity and more to fill in the awkward silence of the car. "Good... Busy, but good." The silence was killing her. "Andrew, could you do me a little favor?" He snorted, "Of COURSE miss." he answered sarcastically as he popped her favorite CD into the car's player. Instantly, MIKA began blasting through it's speakers. Angela sighed and slumped down into her seat. It was going to be a long, boring ride home and a long, boring year.

Echo sat on one of the hard concrete benches out side the school and waited for her older sister to come and pick her up. She began to get quite bored and pulled out a pack of bubble gum from her back pocket.
"POP!" She yelled after she popped another bubble, she had been doing this for a while now. Echo looked up at the sky, down at the ground, anywhere she felt she just might need to look for her sister to show up.
"yo...yo...yo... yo..." Echo mumbled to herself while playing with her old yo-yo that she kept in her backpack. Her shananigans were interupted by the familiar honk of '77 gremlin.
"YES!!" Echo shouted while throwing a fist into the air. She sprinted to the car and climbed in.
"What took you so long helen!" She asked before smacking her sister's arm.
"Hon, it's 10 to 3, you'v only been waiting for 5 minutes." Helen said while patting her younger sister's arm. Echo's face fell, and she began to glare at her watch.

Birdy sat by a stone pillar outside the school, hunched over a thick book, her iPod headphones jammed in her ears. After reading every other page, she would glance up to see if her dad's car had pulled up yet. He worked late most days, and in middle school she was usually waiting until the other students that waited for a ride were gone, and it didn't seem it would be different here. Finally, his silver truck glided up to the sidewalk. Natalie stuffed her iPod into her pocket, and climbed into the passenger seat. "Hey, Dad," she said quietly. "Hey, Liz! How was your first day?" her dad replied enthusiastically. "Um, it was pretty boring, to be honest. Well, except that I got to see my friends again." "Great! Do you have any homework?" "Dad! Of course not! It's the first day, and, even in high school, teachers don't give homework on the first day," BIrdy replied matter-of-factly. "Well, I was just checking," Dad answered. Birdy just rolled her eyes and smiled.
